Queen Anne Creek

1/29/19 11:01 amQueen Anne Creek was the first place I had ever been kayaking, and I have two things I can say about it. First, that it is the perfect place to get beginners to learn to love kayaking. Second, that it spoiled all other kayaking for me. Since my first visit to Queen Anne Creek it remains my favorite place to kayak and the most beautiful route I have ever taken.

1/17/19 8:43 amThis site is very versatile. I have been here several times and each time participated in a different activity. Though I am one to love heavily forested areas, there is something surprisingly and memorably beautiful about these dry rolling hills.

North Menan Butte ('R' Mountain)
This was a wonderful small hike that can be completed in shorter amounts of time, about an hour. This site has a great view and it was fascinating to see the remains of a extinct volcano. It is great Sunday afternoon activity to do with the family, or a group of friends.

Lewis & Clark Caverns
Visiting these caves was a great combination of hiking and exploring caves. The tour guides were very knowledgeable about the history of the caves and the caves themselves showed their history.

Queens Garden Trail
One of the coolest places I have ever been, if not the coolest. It was incredible to be able to see the whole view from the top and then hike down into the view I had just seen.

Durant Nature Preserve
As a long time resident of North Raleigh I have spent many a weekend in this Durant Nature preserve. It is a place I have never wanted to leave. Going bass fishing never lost its intrigue, because even on the days I couldn't catch a fish I could stare at the sky in the lake.
Secret Creek Trail is one of my favorite places to visit. I enjoy the quiet of this well kept secret. I always take a break from my hike and enjoy wading and splashing in the shallow creek with my family and friends. Durant Nature Preserve has been a place for me to reconnect with the people and beauty I miss in my every day life.
