Cave

Located approximately one mile from the Echo Park campground along the Echo Park Road, this fissure in the sandstone rock provides a cool and shady spot to rest on a hot day.

25 miles (40 km) to the Canyon Visitor Center bends just before the Iceland Park Overlook from the Echo Park Road, an adventurous "unpaved road", right eastwards. The road leads partly steep and winding into the Sand Canyon. After 8 miles (13 km) you reach the junction of the Yampa Bench Road. We turn left and come after 5 miles (8 km) to Echo Park, the center of the Dinosaur NM. One has to repeatedly cross the Pool Creek, leading to rainfall water. On this tour there next to the beautiful scenery and many beautiful rock formations still a lot to discover. Approximately is halfway the abandoned "Rial Chew Ranch", which was managed from 1900 to 1949 by the family Chew and today is a "Historic Place". When Echo Point one sees Fremont petroglyphs, the "Whispering Cave" or even a herd of curious white-tailed deer. At best, it is right on the Green River, the proper sling ft here walk around the 800. (250 m) high makes "Steamboat Rock". This rock looks like a shark's fin or a sail made of red sandstone. In the immediate vicinity of the Yampa and the Green River flow together. Here on Echo Park, there is a simple camping site with 22 places (bug spray do not forget!), A toilet, picnic areas and a water pipe (only in summer). The park rangers usually recommended for the Echo Park Road superscript wheel drive vehicles. In dry weather and with appropriate careful driving, it is also accessible from the normal 2-WD cars, but not for rains. For RVs, campervans and cars with trailer, the road is closed.
