3.9 miles SW of American Falls, Idaho

5 campsites on the Snake River near American Falls Reservoir. Fishing for trophy brown and rainbow trout. More than 30 species of migratory shorebirds rest at the reservoir. From the campground, you can also see bald eagles, peregrine falcons, and Thayer gulls in winter or pelicans, cormorants and terns in the summer.

Bear Trap Cave

American Falls, Idaho

28.7 miles NW of American Falls, Idaho

Bear Trap Cave is a part of a lava tube which can be traced for almost 15 miles. Bear Trap lava tube probably originated from Wildhorse Corral along the Great Rift. Approximately 15,000 years old, Bear Trap Cave is older than the Wapi flow (2270 years old) and the Craters of the Moon flow (as young as 2070 years old).
