Hike and Mountain Bike

Mountain Bikers and Hikers in Phoenix, Arizona can rejoice in the challenge that is Trail 100.

Trail 100, or Charles M. Christensen Memorial Trail, is a little over 14 miles out and back in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. Parking is available at the Tatum Trailhead on North Tatum Boulevard where the trail begins. Water and bathrooms are available at the beginning and end of the trail. Be sure to plan accordingly.

The end of the trail loops and connects with the original trail for easy turn around. Explorers of this trail gain 1,570 feet in elevation and enjoy the thrill of the decent.

Though mostly considered a moderate trail, its length and some more technical areas make Trail 100 an enjoyable challenge for more experienced riders. These technical areas are steeper, but only for short stretches.

The main trail is well marked and easy to follow. Have the desire to explore? There are several paths that break off from the main trail for you to find.

Trail 100's location, in the middle of a metropolitan area, provides easy access for city residents. Visitors can enjoy and outdoor adventure without escaping the city. Riders looking for a natural experience will enjoy the many varieties of cacti and wildflowers around the trail.

Never modify trail features. Ride trails when they're dry enough that you won't leave ruts. Speak up when you see others on the trail and always yield to hikers, horses, and others coming uphill. Always ride on the established trail.
