Smith Rock State Park encompasses 651 acres on the Oregon high desert plateau,which hovers around 3000 feet in elevation. The major rock faces are composed of welded tuff (compressed volcanic ash) reaching a height of up to 550 feet. The picnic and campground areas sit on top of the rimrock, which is made up of columnar basalt.

From Riley, Oregon
- Head east on US-20 E/US-395 N (1.4 mi)
- Turn left onto Oakerman Ln (0.6 mi)
- Turn left to stay on Oakerman Ln (2.1 mi)
- Turn left onto Alalfa Rd (1.0 mi)
- Turn left onto US-20 E (0.5 mi)
- Turn right onto US-395 S (7.1 mi)
- Turn leftDestination will be on the right(2.2 mi)
Smith Rock State Park is located in Central Oregon, 3 miles east of the small town of Terrebonne.
From Hwy 97 in Terrebonne, turn east onto NW Smith Rock Way, at the flashing light. (The light isn't always flashing).
Go about 1.5 miles to a left turn at NE 17th st.
Go a half mile, and turn right on NE Wilcox.
Go a half mile, and turn left on NE Crooked River Drive.
Follow this road for a half mile until you enter the state park.
