This trail is 15.7 miles in length and is commonly referred as the backbone of the American Fork Canyon trail system, because it connects several loop routes along the northern portion of the district. The most popular region of the Ridge is from the Summit TH to the junction with the Mill Canyon trail #040. North of Mill Canyon, the trail becomes progressively more difficult, with areas of steep grades and exposed sections of trail. This trail has excellent views throughout. Users can take this trail as far as the Alta/Brighton area. Courtesy of MTBProject.com
Like it's counterpart to the north, the Wasatch Crest Trail, Ridge Trail 157 is part of the Great Western Trail. But the similarities end there. 157 is like the evil twin brother to the Crest trail! So the crest trail has "puke hill", it's nothing compared to the climb from Mill Canyon Spring to Rock Spring (the high point). You will have to share 157 with numerous equestrians, fellow mountain bikers and our gas powered friends on their bikes! But the views of Mount Timp are well worth the visit, and the incredible stretches of singletrack are some of the best in the Wasatch Mountains. Courtesy of Singletracks.com
More Information
Never modify trail features. Ride trails when they're dry enough that you won't leave ruts. Speak up when you see others on the trail and always yield to hikers, horses, and others coming uphill. Always ride on the established trail.
