This scenic trail crosses over a river and through several groves of trees whth the Boulder Mountains towering in the distance. The trail is found off of Highway 75 near the Harriman Trail. When starting, riders will follow the Harriman trail which is pretty wide and goes through some nice meadows and past a few ponds.
After 8.5 miles there will be an interesction and riders will want to leave the Harriman Trail and take the Baker Creek road. For the most part, this portion of the trail is a pretty easy climb. Around mile 11.8 riders will want to go to the left and follow East Fork of Baker Creek. Not many people are seen on this trail, and the climb is a bit steeper than previous spots on the trail. There are a few nice break spots along the way, as well as some great spots to look out over the area and surrounding mountains. Towards the top of the climb riders will see a yurt. This is a sign that the Oregon Gulch trail is close. The trail will be on the left, marked by a sign, however there will be about 50 ft of hike-a-bike through here.
The trail has two parts, the Upper Oregon Gulch Edge of the World and Lower Oregon Gulch. Upper Oregon Gulch is not for the beginner and not for faint of heart. From the beginning the trail is a steep climb until riders reach the top. At this point, the trail goes quickly down hill for the next 3 miles. This portion of the trail is for DOWNHILL ONLY. There is a lot of loose rock and rooted terrain, but it is definitely an exciting and adventurous trail.
This portion ends at a creek and then meets up with Lower Oregon Gulch, which is about the exact opposite of Upper Oregon Gulch. The trail is flat and not technical, crossing through lush greenery and aspen groves.
More Information
Never modify trail features. Ride trails when they're dry enough that you won't leave ruts. Speak up when you see others on the trail and always yield to hikers, horses, and others coming uphill. Always ride on the established trail.
