Hike, Rock Climb, and Swim

Oiseau Rock, is a sheer rock face about 150 metres in height which rises straight out of the Ottawa River in Ontario. It was a sacred site for First Nations Peoples who have left behind a remarkable legacy of ancient pictographs which may still be seen today. It continues to be part of the sacred landscape for the Algonkins of Pikwakanagan First Nation near Golden Lake, Ontario and of the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation (Maniwaki, Quebec) who call the rock "Migizi Kiishkaabikaan" meaning bird rock.

ROCK CLIMBERS! All access is not by boat. This cliff can and should be accessed (for rock climbing) by using the Oiseau Rock trail. If you decide to climb here, please check in with the ZEC St-Patrice ahead of time and when you park. Rock climbing in areas without an established communication with the land manager can risk access for EVERYONE. I have had communication with this land manager and it is their request that they be notified if someone is to be climbing the cliff.
