Hot Springs

McCredie Hot Springs are easily accessible from the road with paved parking. Several extremely hot (please use caution) pools border the cold and fast-flowing Salt Creek, a Willamette River tributary. Pool depth is 2 ft. Clothing is not required. In 1914 a resort hotel was built on-site, which became a baseball team camp, and then a bordello. In 1958 it burned to the ground, followed by a flood that wiped out bridge access. Today McCredie Springs remains natural and undeveloped. Eight miles east of Oakridge on Hwy 58 between milepost 46 & 47. Vault toilets. Picnic areas and campgrounds nearby.Courtesy of eugenecascadescoast.org
Once a historic resort, this day use site offers access to the undeveloped McCredie Hot Springs. There is parking for nine passenger vehicles and one 40-foot RV. Two picnics tables are available. There is no overnight camping allowed. The pools border the cold and swift Salt Creek and can be extremely hot (98-114 degrees). The largest pool is 30-35 feet across and the smallest is 3 feet. The bottom is primarily made up of silt and organic debris. The deepest pool is 2 ft. Clothing is optional.Courtesy of fs.usda.gov

Be careful. Pay attention to posted signs and always test the waters before you get in. Some hot springs can get up to boiling temperatures. Be sure to drink plenty of water to combat the dehydrating effect of the spring.
Be respectful of other soakers and the hot spring. Don't hog the pool. Camp at least 200 yards away and keep fires in designated areas. Keep your pets out of the water and never pee in thermal feature. Glass bottles should never go near a hot spring.
