Camp, Hike, and Mountain Bike
Located on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, Mather Campground Trail is a brief one mile out and back connector trail which is great for hiking, mountain biking, walking, and trail running. The trail is not great for viewing the canyon but is perfect for a light walk or bike ride. Pets are allowed here if kept on their leashes. Located just adjacent to the Mather Campground is Trailer Village.
Mather Campground itself is located within Grand Canyon Village which has lodges, shuttle buses, a train, a historic district as well as a visitor center. Reservations for the campground can be made in advance up to 6 months. While Mather Campground does not provide any hook-ups for RV’s, Trailer Village does have full hook-ups.
Mather Campground is 210 driving miles south from the North Rim Campground.
More Information
Never modify trail features. Ride trails when they're dry enough that you won't leave ruts. Speak up when you see others on the trail and always yield to hikers, horses, and others coming uphill. Always ride on the established trail.
Read MoreBe courteous, informed, and prepared. Read trailhead guidelines, stay on the trail, and don't feed the wildlife.
