Rock Climb

Previously known as the Springfield Gorge, the Mad River Gorge & Nature Preserve recently opened in May of 2017 and is now Ohio's largest natural climbing area. This new location offers 132 different routes to climb on, with the 40ft walls of bulletproof limestone that is Ohio climbing. The area contains climbing of all types, including bouldering and traditional climbing, although the majority of the routes are sport climbs generously bolted with help from the Ohio Climber's Coalition and over 60 sponsors including The Access Fund. The Mad River Gorge Climbing Area has routes that are fun for everybody with a range of roughly 5.5 to 5.12c.

Though a lot of work has been done to cleanup and develop proper trails at the park, there is still a lot of work to be done. The Ohio Climbers Coalition and Clark County Parks District is still closely working together to improve the area, but they are always looking for volunteers willing to help in this project. If anyone is interested in volunteering their time, please visit the Ohio Climbers Coalition Website or the Ohio Climbers Coalition Facebook Page. Courtesy of mountainproject.com
