Hike and Mountain Bike
Goat Camp Trail is a well-liked mountain biking and hiking trail in White Tank Mountain Regional Park. This is a 16 mile out-and-back trail that is rated as advanced due to the length, as well as the 3,000+ elevation gain.
Goat Camp is your southernmost entry to White Tank Regional Park's backcountry. The trail is rocky, winding, and can be strenuous, however, the surrounding views make the trip well worth it. As you make your way up the mountain, desert scenery crosses your way; mesquite trees, wildflowers, cacti, and surrounding canyons. Once you make it towards the end of the trail, it becomes flatter, and more serene. Your ending point is the towers that are visible near the high point of the White Tanks, if you are able to make it to this point you get stunning views of the city and the entire valley.
Only take on this hike or ride if you are well-prepared. There are no water sources on the trail, so bring lots and lots of water, and protection from the sun, since shade sources are few.
There is a $6 vehicle entrance fee for the park.
