Acadia’s tallest mountain and the highest point on the Atlantic Coast, the 1,530-foot peak of Cadillac Mountain is known as the first spot the sunlight hits the U.S. most mornings. Hike or drive to the top for views of Bar Harbor, the Porcupine Islands and Frenchman Bay.

- Head north on Compass Harbor Ln toward Albert Meadow (141 ft)
- Turn left onto Albert Meadow (102 ft)
- Turn left onto Main St (141 ft)
- Turn right onto Mt Desert St (0.5 mi)
- Continue straight onto Eagle Lake Rd (1.1 mi)
- Turn right onto Cadillac Entrance Rd (443 ft)
- Turn left onto Paradise Hill Rd (180 ft)
- Turn left to stay on Paradise Hill RdMay be closed at certain times or days(0.5 mi)
- Paradise Hill Rd turns slightly right and becomes Park Loop RdMay be closed at certain times or days(0.5 mi)

If you plan to drive to the summit, head West from Bar Harbor on 233. Take a left onto Park Loop Road and follow the well-marked signs for Cadillac Mountain Road to begin your windy 3.5-mile climb to the peak.
For the South Ridge Trail, park along Route 3, five miles south of Bar Harbor. The trailhead is located in the Blackwoods Campground.
