Funnel or Cable Arch is located outside of the Arches National Park in Moab, Utah. While many people will visit the famous Arches National Park, Funnel Arch is just as spectacular, but less crowded than what is found in Arches. Located about 15 minutes from Moab, the trail itself is about 1 mile to the arch. For most people this trail is relatively easy, with only one spot that is difficult. Leaving from the trailhead, the trail goes uphill a little bit, and then comes to a spot where most people will need to rock climb. Rock climbing gear is not necessary, there are plenty of good hand holds and the wall is not too tall. After this brief climb, there will be another spot (a drainage) which will also need to be closed, however this climb is much easier than the first. Past this part, the arch will come into view and it is pretty flat from here to the base of the arch.

Some people like to take an additional trail that takes visitors behind and above the arch. There used to be a cable that helped people climb up to this point, but has since been taken down. For the more adventurous people there are bolts at the top of the arch where people are able to rappel down.

Overall this arch is a great place to visit because so few people are there. Most people that visit the arch will have it all to their self.

Be courteous, informed, and prepared. Read trailhead guidelines, stay on the trail, and don't feed the wildlife.

Funnel (Cable) Arch - From Moab McDonalds drive on Cane Creek road. Pass campgrounds until the road turns to dirt. Go two miles on dirt road, park at the small pullout on the left. Follow the slickrock up to where it funnels to a small semi cliff area. Climb up then follow the footsteps and wash around to right, climb up (left to the arch). The cable is on the fin left of the arch (when looking at the arch). Once on top of the arch, this is a great way to access the "behind the rocks" area for exploration. Maybe a mile round.
