Hike

As part of the Rails to Trails project, this old railroad bridge has been transformed into a very safe little viewing experience for the whole family. You can drive right up to the bridge where there is a great little spot to park. Conant Creek meeanders hundreds of feet below the bridge. It's about 300 yards across and whether you're taking in the vibrant colors of spring, the beautiful fall colors, or the Tetons looming in the background, the view is spectacular.

The bridge is part of the 30 mile Ashton-Tetonia Trail. There is a smaller bridge less than 2.5 miles north on the trail.

I stopped here a few days ago when I just before sunset. It was amazingly beautiful. I saw a pair of bald eagles circling around. The path also passed a couple of ancient apple trees in full bloom, which smelled heavenly. Don't drive all the way to the bridge. Park near the road and walk in.

An old favorite! Especially in the springtime, the view is fantastic. Used to be pretty scary with missing boards and the big drop, but now there's a safety fence and a tight walkway, so it's even great for kids!

This is always a quick favorite. We go out and walk on the bridge right over the creek, and try to throw a rock into the creek. It's so far down which makes it pretty tough. We often see wildlife but not this time.

I often see moose or deer out there! Great place to jog, cross-country ski, or bike. This photo doesn't show the nice, new, very safe handrails. Take some pebbles to drop off the top into the creek below.
