As the name implies this is a claystone cave. it has around 2,500 feet of passage inside. The passage ranges from crawl ways to large walking passages. When caving always go prepared. 3 sources of light a helmet and dress for a cool enviroment.

From Rifle, Colorado
- Head south on Railroad Ave toward W 6th St (0.3 mi)
- Turn right onto US-6 W/Centennial PkwyContinue to follow US-6 W(3.3 mi)
- Turn left onto US-6 E (0.2 mi)
- Continue straight onto I-70 Frontage Rd W (3.7 mi)
- Turn right onto Co Rd 246 (1.2 mi)
- Slight right (0.4 mi)
Park on the West side of the road near the oil pad, but please park off to the side if possible. This is probably private property but I have parked there several times and not been hasseled. If you are unsure about parking here then park on the shoulder of the road. Hike across the ravine and down into the drainage. follow it East and north to the cave and Arch
